The Best of Four
The Auteuil Monotel was the fourth (and last) hotel we stayed in during an eight day jaunt to southern France, Turin and Geneve. It was the best of the four. First of all, if you arrive by train, exit the station and walk three blocks to your left. If you arrive by air, the train from the airport stops at the main train station and you can then walk the rest of the way. The lake is a few minutes walk down the hill. Geneve's main upscale shopping area is a 10 minute walk. Breakfast at the hotel was superb; even champagne was available at the buffet though no guest seemed to have the courage to open the chilled bottle. Besides the mini-bar, the room had a small refrigerator and the room sparkled. Even had turn down service and a mint on the pillow. There are several 5-star hotels in Geneve as you may guess, but for the money the Auteuil Manotel was a real treat all in all. |

"Love this hotel"
I've stayed at this hotel numerous times and was particularly impressed during the last visit. It has been completely updated and looks fantastic. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated. The self-serve breakfast is great with a wide variety of choices. Wireless internet was available free of charge. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the location is great. I highly recommend it.

"Ab Fab!"
My wife and I decided to go for a long weekend and chose this hotel having reviewed reports from previous guests. Our flight meant us arriving quite late and, on arriving at reception, I tried to book us in, in my appalling schoolboy French. The receptionist asked for my name in perfect English and had us booked in and in our room in record time.
We went to the bar and decided to buy a bottle of wine, only to be profusely apologised to, as they did not have a full bottle chilled, they then gave us a glass of fine Swiss white, which they did not charge us for as they did not have a full bottle we requested.
The entire stay was a continual encounter with superb staff, who could not do enough for us. From directing us to various trips, to providing facilities to change, some 12 hours after checking out, their polite friendly manner has left us on a high ever since.
The room was of a more than adequate size, while the comfort and cleanliness was beyond reproach. Breakfast, which was greeted by the friendliest "Bonjour" I have ever received, had a good selection and only the grumpiest, fussiest eaters could not find something delicious to eat.
If you're travelling in from the airport, don't waste your money on a taxi, take the train, get a ticket from the machine for CHF3 (c. £1.50) and you'll be in Geneva central in 10 minutes. Come out of the front door and turn left, the hotel is a couple of hundred yards on the left.
If you're out for the day, get a 0900 to 2100 ticket from any ticket machine and jaunt around the city on bus, train, tram and water taxi for CHF7. For the really adventurous, take a number 8 bus to the very end of the route. Walk the short distance to the cable car (which is in France, but takes major credit cards - if you don't have Euro's) to the top of Mt Saleve, from where you can get a fantastic panoramic view over Lac Leman and Geneva! While you're waiting for the bus back, if you've time/ inclination, wander up the street opposite and you'll find a real live country bar/ restaurant which serves the finest coffee ever!

"Very good!!"
Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Huge breakfast included in room price. Room very modern and stylish with dark wooden floors, mirrors, huge bed and very spacious (also a reasonable storage space). Great lighting. Reastaurants near by ( 200 metres walk from hotel). Veeeery fast internet connection in business room (only one PC but hey it works and is on 24 hrs a day). 2 minutes walk from central station, supermarkets etc... 10 mins walk from lake Leman. Very good rate for Geneva standards and I was there in high season. I highly recommend it.
